Hi!
I was rendereing a glass-flower and wondered that i have caustics using the point light and NO caustics using the sphere light (for soft-shadows).
Seems, that caustics will be automaticly disabled by switching to spherelight.
Could you check this out please?
Greets,
Dennis F.

In path tracing, area light types (area, sphere, mesh) need 'Make light visible' button enabled to shoot caustics photons.

But the caustics made by the point light are (very) more beautyful than the ones from spherelight.
An idea would be to have back that PHOTON-Lamp, that only send photons for caustics and have no shadows. So we could combine it with iE a spherelight.
So this should become a feature request.
Thanks!
I added one more attachement: a picture rendered with PhotonMapping. the only bad thing: Materials can´t send photons, so i had to use MESHLIGHT.
And this brought a bad shadow- where do this come from?

Ok i can confirm that seting pathtracing caustic method to "path+photon" does not throw caustics correctly you can use simply photon to get good caustics
i leave here an example
