Don't you like the new website's header image? me either... So now, you have the chance to contribute with a little but cool YafRay rendered piece... Each selected* image, will crown the website theme for one week** period.

We cannot offer money or cars (besides the Richie's mini), but we could put a link to your website in your image...so, make something elegant ;)

Interested?
Email your work at chronoh at yafray.org (subject: YHC) or post your work here.
IMPORTANT: the work must be in .png format and the filename must contain your name.

Don't forget to tell us your name and your website url... We don't accept email adresses instead of urls.

Deadlines:

Actually we don't know what volume of work we'll receive, so this thread will be opened for one month... If we don't receive at least 10 works, we'll extend the deadline.

Conditions and guides:

-Due to design layout constraints, we only accept images with a max width of 593px, however you can make your piece less wider if needed. Please, respect the image height.

-We'll evalue in the same proportion both concept and artistic result. It's important that you image will harmonize with the rest of the website design... Try to tell something with your work and go beyond the reflective cube and the cristal probe.

-It could be interesting that the image demonstrates cool YafRay features like DOF, Conetrace, HDRI...YafRay is an unexplored render engine and some features are practically unknown by people.. (See Samo's FAQ for more info: http://wiki.yafray.org/bin/view.pl/UserDoc/FaqEng)

-(UPDATE): please, crop the width of your image if needed.

-You can postproduce your image with GIMP to compositive and color-contast-bright modulation purposes.

-The use of explicit slogans it's not allowed

-Don't make a direct reference to the YafRay project, by this way, we can avoid redundant concepts.

Here's the template

Thank you very much :)

*The image selection will be make by members of the YafRay crew.
**The image order apparition will be generated randomly by a script.

Hey prince,

Nice :)

Please, could you crop the image to less width?... the floor gradient is filled in the layout with a background pattern.

Thanks for your contribution :)

I'm not very skilled in Blender, but I though, why not give it a try? Here's my entry:

I tried the DOF, but I am not sure if it is noticeable.

(just in case you were wondering what the heck is the thing I've drawn, it's the yafray logo redrawn to cubes. Recognize the angle?) :D

Alright,
I'll shift the camera up a little bit

BTW, the big red thing in the middle is the 'eye' of the logo, the blocks on the right correspond to the black 'iris' in front of it ;)

Eh, it's nothing spectacular, just thought I'd post this and see what others think. I will work on something else (can we have multiple entries? If not, then I'll just replace this one)

Hi stormy,

yes, each participant could post more than 1 work.

About your work, we cannot appreciate your model...it's too small...

Play with angles, camera positions, lens to find and optimal shot. Think in the format: it's wider so try to take advantage of this and think that is not necesary to fit your whole model into the shot.

Hoping that this will help

yafray forum has a nice feature that automatically resizes big images, which is great for CG forums like this. If you want to see your image in its original size, click on it.

Thank you guys for your collabs, but we don't have sufficient entries to make the contest rightly.

Maybe the next time with bigger prices :)
