Another bedroom viz

Post Thu Jul 21, 2011 10:47 am

So I started to model a new bedroom. At this time I decided to make all geometry first, and only then to play with materials and lights.

I still wonder about the light distribution. Are you using another Yafaray-version than 0.1.1 or 0.1.2?
I don't get the falloff of the arealight like in your image here. :?

At this time I've made them in the other way. Maybe in a nearest future I'll make a video on how to make such a cloth. To speak in a nutshell - a blanket and a wrap was made using multiple cloth sim with pinning. Pillows was made in two steps. Step one: make a lowpoly pillow with subsurf and assign a Collision to it. Step two: duplicate that pillow, scale down the source a little and then subdivide the copy with 5-10 iterations and assign a Cloth to it. So we got a solid core and a soft cloth cover for it, which remains the pillow's shape but adds some nice stretches.

I'm using Blender 2.49b and Yafaray 0.1.1 for rendering. Here's the stripped scene. I removed all furniture, etc, but left the room geometry and a light untouched.

Thanks for your .blend, it helped me to understand why I got a different light distribution. I thought your image was a clay render, but you just used the default materials. :)

Many thanks suomi for sharing your knowledge! Yafaray is getting more and more fun!

thanks for the scene file.i think skypower has to be set equal to arealight power to get correct specular/reflection from skylight.

@rusted

+1. I've never thought about it, but it's a good trick.

A slight update - a bonsai tree and an IKEA lantern. The bonsai is a mix between polymodelled trunk, IvyGen-generated branches and a particle-based leaves.

There's nothing tricky, just a Glossy with low Gl.refl and Exp. and a texture from http://www.cgtextures.com. These leaves are too thick for translucency.

Not really. ) It was a pure experiment with new Blender 2.59 add-on called IvyGen and with particles. You're welcome. :)
