Hi,
Thanks for the updates.
Yafaray is working pretty good with multi-treads on windows now.

I've found tiny bugs in the new release:

1 - Refection of a Window mapped texture.
When using a texture with map to set to win its reflection are wrong, it looks like yafaray extends window mapping over the reflection.

map to = win
left glossy; right shiny diffuse
test01.png

map to = orco
left glossy; right shiny diffuse
test02.png

2- Feedback of the GUI after a render.
In the material tab with a glossy material selected, hit render. Close render window, when Yafaray GUI "unfreeze" The glossy material has changed and has shiny diffuse material buttons but the material type keeps set to glossy.
When you click on any button the GUI updates and the glossy materials buttons come back displaying correctly.

On ubuntu 9.04 i've noticed the same problems.

Could anybody confirm this?

This (reflection problem) works the same on windows vista. However it should be noted that in blender reflections of win mapped materials just appear as the diffuse color so you might say that this isn't yafaray's "fault"

The reflection with Map To: Win has the same problem on OSX.
The same for the GUI glossy material, as cyberlecs said. But if you enable “Always show active object”, there is no bug, the glossy material stay the same after the render.

Hi, darktide,
I had the problem of rendering Transparent Shadows. With this RC it's solved. I will try it harder, but seems to work fine.

Thanks a lot.

The same for me- seems to work real good- a little bit slower than 315 it seems to me, but all is working again!

Also tih revision is much slower then 315 7 verse 9 minute :(

So, I made some measurements and here is my results. You could see R315 on the left and new 1.1RC on the right. Time difference is "only" about 20s (You could see time on each image on the bottom-left). Imo the new version of Yara (RC one) has slower rendering and faster antialiasing than R315. Both renders looks identical imo.

Sure. Here it is. Remember to unpack textures before rendering.

about strange things happening in the UI, it also happens under windows XP, the UI redraws when render is launched, showing shinydiffuse settings for a glossy material

Said bug can be reproduced with the scene attached in the previous missage, select glossy material from existing materials list and launch render.

Just downloaded and tried the latest OSX RC2 version but it didn't work.
1. I removed any trace of previous 314 scripts in my scripts folder.
2. I created the "Blender" folder inside "applications" and copied my blender.app there, renaming the 1st "b" for capital.
3. Launched the new installer and it detects my blender app, so I check this location during the install process.
4. I got python 2.5.1, the one recommended by apple (activepython).
5. I compile blender on the Mac with the python mentioned above (which should be compatible), latest version 2.49.rev2
6. When I try to launch the Yafaray UI from blender's render menu it "tries" to compile the scripts on runtime but then blender crashes and closes.
7. If I open a terminal and type "yafaray-xml -v" I get the following:
Code: Select all
Starting YafaRay XML loader...
XML loader, version 0.1
Built with YafaRay version 0.1.1

So, yafaray is there in my system, but blender's scripts cant launch its UI.
8. To make sure that no remainders of older scripts were there, I erased completely my blender.app, and recompiled it from scratch and re-installed yafaray into this new blender compilation.

Any ideas? Is there a way to launch blender from console to try and get some input when I try to launch the yafaray UI?

Thanks for any help.

Alvaro F. Celis

The render above (in my message) is from new 32bit Windows version and its slower than 0.1.0.315 so what U mean with Your "huge speed improvements"? Im REALLY wondering...

Well, a test scene I always use in Windows, Linux and Mac, usually takes 40 secs in Linux/Mac and 1 min 40 seconds in Windows. Obviously, the huge difference has to do with Linux/Mac both being 64 bit operating systems that fully use the 4 Gb of RAM I got installed, whereas WindowsXP 32 bits only gets to use 3 GB as tops.
With this latest build the scene is taking 1 minute in Windows, so I don't know what other name can I give to 40 seconds of difference. ;)

I shall give the "official" test scene a try to see how things go there.
