Final Year Architecture Visualization 2013 - 2014

Post Thu Aug 15, 2013 5:11 pm

Welcome to my thread about my final year architectural visualization.

I started my final years project, so i thought i could share some of the stuff i already did and of course all upcoming progression.

It is going to be a an animation and it starts in a city and ends at a house in the hills.
(And all designs are by myself)

So stay tuned and have fun watching it and as always critics, questions and comments are very welcome.

And btw i am using photon mapping for all my images(i know pm for exterios? yeah its just sooo much faster than path tracing and direct lighting has no GI ;D)

Here are the first simple impressions:
And thanks for watching^^

I didn't come far and i found some problems after rendering:

There are some noisy areas on some polygons(Image) and if i change the diffuse to glossy shader i get big black dots.
A little weird...
Anyone got ideas that would be so awesome

It is a known issue related to having large objects a long distance from the camera. Scale the scene down to reduce the distance between object and camera.

Thank you for your help.
This downscaling has a nice side effect on the render time. Pretty cool.

Tiny update: The Kitchen
Just 3 weeks till the dead line. I hope I can finish it.

Sorry for that boring clay renders, but textured versions coming soon.

Great work!

Are you using path tracing?
What about the render times?

If you have time, I think you should add more elements, it's a great improvement to achieve realism.
Also an environment background should be ok.

The slope behind the house I think needs to have some plants, rocks or grass.

Can we see the animation? :D

Keep on!

Thanks surena for your tips :D

I added a backdrop, some bushes, and changed some stuff.
Yes it will look a bit empty ... they are just moved in ^^

I think i used the wrong words, I still have to render the final animation. And to be honest the bedroom and the bathroom are not even textured or "animated".

I use Photon Mapping as the rendering method, path tracing is slower than PM.
The render times pending between 13 to 16 minutes with 5 minutes for exporting and photon map build.
I had to reduce all sample settings drastically to achieve those render times, so there is a lot of noise in the shadow areas.
