the Cliff House

Post Sat Jul 27, 2013 5:05 pm

Hi every one! First of all excuse my poor english.
This is the first contest that I participate since I've decided to start, 9 month ago, to study by my own 3D with "Blender", the greatest open source tool. Hope to keep learning from all of you.

I chose the Cliff House by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects.

start working on the materials, even if i need to finish my modeling, but i can't wait to see how materials works in yafaray.
until now, i used blender internal and cycles to render my scenes, so i have to read and learn a lot about yafa.
one peculiar thing that i found it's that to make a blend shader you need to have both materials on the scene, am i right?

this is my unfinished project. start to work with dead grass on the rocks and wanted to add some color with some more vegetation but didn't work as i expected. just a raw direct lighting render. didn't have time to do it better. :(
i'm gonna try to improve it when i get time to.

Looks good.

Only the steel carrier looks to old for the wooden house in my eyes.
Maybe it would be better if the steel is less rusty/damaged or the house is more in an older style created.

i totally agree with you. it's one of many things that i left to do later. i was looking for a rusty/grungy image, that's why i chose that rusty steel shader, but then didn't have the time to do the same with the wood and concrete at the bottom of the steel, etc., just clean shaders.
