Modern house

Post Fri Feb 04, 2011 4:43 pm

Hello every one! That is my first post on this forum. I play Yafaray from some time, so I decided to get participation in Contest. I`m not an architect. I`m landscape architect ;-) so I try to focus on plants, ect.
Here is my first shoot. Scene will be the late afternoon, with soft shadows or erly evening. Wish me luck ;-)

Hi QuiMico, i'm new member too; well; about your problem i think that you have to make sure that the materials are assigned to the Mesh not to the Object; try this, i didn't see the same problem before.

Anyway, i've liked you design, good luke; see you around

It looks like a problem with the Cube.015 object. Try removing it and render again.

It seems to me a missing material in an object.
Can you check every objects have a material?

Cheers,

You could also try appending the objects to a new .blend file, perhaps without the cube.015 object or material.

Which Yafaray version are you using? Is it 0.1.1?

Hi,
I have made small update. X-frog free plants, some textures. Direct lightnig and 72 minuts render time! - it too high for me. I plan used Photon maping, any ideas of presets? Pathtraicing is really slow.

72 minutes for Direct lighting sounds too much... render settings please :)

Hi,
Looks great already !
I do have some pointers though:
composition:
-use the architect cam if you're not already
-your image is square, with the building smack dab in the middle, you might want to change that. Like choose a rectilinear format and put the focus of your image on a third (http://www.digital-photography-school.com/rule-of-thirds)
A typical architrick I often employ is to put the horizon on a third or lower, check these guys out : http://www.luxigon.com/
-imo the building itself would look better when the louvres start and end flush with the construction.
-reflective wood means it's lackered and wet and you would break your neck walking it,b/c it is too slippery. You could make unlackered wood wet, but you'll have to create a specific reflection map, focusing the reflections towards the center of the wood planks : http://www.ronenbekerman.com/3d-water-drops-by-bertrand-benoit/ (download that water droplet texture too )

HI, thanks!
- I`ve used arch camera already.
- I know that square is not good; I planned used different shape - thanks for reference.
On wooden deck is specular map already - but it`s not work fine. Mayby I do something wrong.

Sorry for my english.

- AO samples and Distance increase render time usually without any visible improvement: samples=32 and Distance=3 to 10 is almost always fine.

- try 2 or 4 samples per pass (AA samples and AA inc) and several passes (4, 8 or more) with low threshold (0.007 or less). threshold 0.05 is definitely too much

- check area lamps/sun lamps/sky samples: 16 is OK. more samples increase render time

-pixelwidth=1 is wrong. values for pixelwidth should be 1.2 (sharp) to 2.0 (blured), with 1.5 (default value) the best in theory

- try Gamma in = Gamma out =2.2
