Ok we must stop that flood...
Can coders tell us something about importing materials from another yaf(a)ray progects? How to use preSet materials?
In my projects there are 30-80 meterials

this is old 009 yafray picture

and it`s not wery useful every time to set this typical mats...
Thanks.
And what about IES sources of light? Now not only comercial renders but Kerkythea_2008 have this great feature. Like material can have texture, that lamp can have *.IES file. It`s a matrix of data - realy "photometrical body"

Please, use this thread to post information about yaf(a)ray materials to share with everyone. Yaroslav, please open a new thread for you question about lighting. Don't mix different subjects in the same thread. Don't post irrelevant missages, please. Use the yaf(a)ray builds thread to suggest new features in yaf(a)ray, in a respectful manner.

@ Samo: would you please mind that there also people younger than 18 viewing the forum and its RSS feed, so that they're forced to see material like this??

Anyway, I've read something about SSS (Sub Surface Scattering) which would make candle lights better.. I've tried SSS on a candle, but it makes it completely black.. Could anyone please help me?

That image is perfectly unnofensive for most of us. It is in fact a famous sculpture you should get to know in your secondary education anywhere in Europe. And that sculpture it is not offensive material period. It is art.

More info about SSS in yafray:

Ok. So, what about black dots on Aluminium material?
(rendered with Photon mapping)

And look at Frosted Glass on first page - thanks to all!

I`m trying to made WallPaper like this (Vray)

Image

As I understand, I must apply scaned image to UV>Col
and black/white copy of this image (or it`s part) apply to UV>Spec (for glossy reflection).
With color - ewerything OK, but when I activate texture with spec I can`t see spec effect and col effect...

The problem to use a bumpmap to get a frosted glass is that when you want to increase the glossyness it increases the noise to and it's hard to get a smooth glossy glass.

I agree that IES Lamps would be an usefull feature.

cyanid: I think your gold have unreal clear mirror reflection - like polished chrome.
gold not so hard metal, so I think the better way to make gold with glossy shader, but it`s only my mean...

Trust me, I have the gold ring on my finger, and he is very polish. But I think that gold with exponent will be realistic too. Treat this it depends from You, what You will haul appearance.
