Your opinion about the new YafRay site!

Post Sat Jan 01, 2005 5:20 pm

Hi to all!

As you can see, we have a new YafRay site. On this first steps, we would like to know your opinion about it.

If you have a constructive critique about sections, organization or the site map, feel free to post it here.

You must take into account that we are still working on the site, and some sections (like documentation) are in first stages.

Typos, language errors and problems with browsers are welcome too.

Enjoy!

Luis.

Hi! it looks great!

I just found a problem when I tried to register: I was unnable to activate my account. There were two reasons for that:

1) gmail decided you were spam... (you know you are spam XD)
2) the link in the email was wrong, it was something like:
http://www.yafray.org/forum2/profile.ph ... ey=XXXXXXX
but it gave me a 404 error
In case something similar happens to someone, just change forum2 by forum, and it will activate the account ;)

http://www.yafray.org/forum2/profile.ph ... ey=XXXXXXX
y eso daba un error 404
En caso de que le pase a otra persona, basta con cambiar la parte de forum2 por forum y ya te deja activar la cuenta ;)

Un saludo

Driadan

P.S.: Shouldn't there be a part of the forums devoted to the webpage?

Nice website.... very refreshing. The old one was becoming quite stale, hopefully this one will enjoy more activity. :)

I had the same problem as Driadan when trying to activate my account. Thanks for the suggested fix, Driadan.

Ouch! It's my fault. I have a extra "2" in forum base name. Now it is fixed.

En "apañol" ;-):

Bienvenido, Driadan :-)

Hi Luis,

Great new site, and the logo is very dynamic! A couple of comments:

The gallery pages automatically scroll to the bottom when you click a page number. I've tested that on IE and firefox on windows and firefox and safari on osx. So there's definitely something wierd in the code.

I like the icons by the way, the learn and contribute ones especially.

Have fun,

Wybren

Yes! I agree! Of course, we have a cool logo (and icons) because I didn't take part in the design at all! 8) All this cool stuff was made by Javier Galán, a.k.a. chronoh.

I'm waiting anxious new your YafRay renders ;-)

Hi

I really love the new feel of the site. Very professional. Very nice.

One small thing though lets it down ever so slightly. I love yafray and am thankful everything is in English but please, if you want it to be in English then do a spell check before putting content online.

Everyone makes typos. Even native English speakers have problems with spelling (I know I do sometimes). I understand that English is probably not your first language but doing a spell check isn't hard and would remove some glaring mistakes/typos. Try http://www.spellcheck.net/

Do that and you will have a wonderful (long overdue?) makeover of one of thr most important websites to the free CG community.

Hi Koba.

As you said, English is not our first language. We are making an effort to write and to express into one language that (at least me) don't speak well (as you can see).

If you are talking about my/our forum posts, please note that all that you can see was made in our spare time. And is not too much time. I'm pretty sure I have spelling mistakes in Spanish (my native language) when I write a lot in few minutes too. Anyway, this is not an excuse so I'll be more careful.

I take a note with your spellcheck.net suggestion. But If you (or somebody) see a lot of typos and mistakes, please report it to us. And we will happy to have some "human spell checker(s)" in the team. Volunteers?

Luis.
