Sounds like a memory management issue, one more time. I start wondering if recompiling yafaray + prone with gcc (mingw) rather than msvc wouldn't solve all these problems .. (one more time, under linux there is no stability issue at all).

Does anyone ever built yafaray with MinGW ?

Thanks!

Hi fenard, Darktide builds YafaRay Win binaries with MinGW, ask him.

Wow Samo, this is impressive !

For the people who want to join the corefarm, there is a new prone version available: prone 0.2.2. It's stable, at least on my computer ;-) . It's available at http://www.corefarm.org/wiki/participate , as usual !

Enjoy the corefarm !

All the best,

william

Very cool idea - started my first test run. Lets see how it goes... Will attach my 2 comps to your grid for a few days and see how it works out.

Apart from that it seems you dont parellize too much since I read "assigned job to worker xyz" or did I misunderstand something?

Hi !

Welcome to the corefarm then ! Hope you'll enjoy it.

Oh, the 'assigned job to worker x' was a debug message for me, I should remove that. A worker is an independent application running on the backoffice and which is responsible for a single job queue. (if I had several servers, it would allow to distribute the backoffice too). The worker does not process the rendering job, it is just splitting it before prones performs computations on parts. Well, all this is confusing, sorry !!

- only TGA and PNG output? Any chance for a HDRI output for postprocessing?

TIA

PS: sorry for sounding serious - am just in testing mood ;)

Since I didnt tell: my feedback 1 is a "shooting ahead" - corefarm delivered grand results so far and I really enjoy the setup and how it works so far - pretty good job.

Hi,
I'm starting to test Corefarm.org.
I downloaded the sources (http://www.corefarm.org/downloads/prone ... 2.2.tar.gz) and tried to follow the instructions at http://www.corefarm.org/wiki/BuildProneUbuntu (I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 AMD64).

The building of yafaray failed, but I didn't care about it, because I've already installed it.
Then I built prone with success.
I started prone with the command:
Code: Select all
prone --login my_login --ui false

I'm wondering if there are some firewall settings I have to do in order to let the software receive jobs. Have I got to open some ports?

I also tried to upload a job (#1708) but I sow it stop at 5%, I got an error (Error 404) and an email of "job failure.
I rendered the same xml file (a crop of a 1600x1200px image) on my PC and it worked fine. It took 1536s.

Not a problem, I'll try some other scenes...

It's a great tool, thank you very much for that!

Yes, William had to left this weekend and he adviced us to test our works with the yafaray-xml tool before sending them to the servers.

It seems someone missed this and now the servers are down :(

Till Monday there is no Corefarm.

Greetings!

I wish some guys stopped sending scenes to corefarm,
Job 1712:

shot 1000000 photons, 1 hits, 1 of them on diffuse srf.
stored caustic photons: 0
stored diffuse photons: 1
building photon kd-trees...
starting recusive tree build (n=1):
done!
too few photons! Stop.
@@@ Scene updated
@@@ surfIntegrator->render
rendering 2 passes, min 1 samples, 1 per additional pass (max 2 total)
[ ] (0%)

This missage is telling that 1M photons are shot and only one hit is recorded in the photon map. Please at least try to learn a bit how YafaRay works before using Corefarm.

Bad XML syntax. can you test the xml produced with your local yafaray-xml.exe? Also are you using YafaRay 0.0.1?
