HDR is another file
HDR is kind of an image file with very high details
so we put the HDR as the world image and tell yafaray
to reflect the world on to all objects

what about this color diff on the right image
how can i remove it
its look like kind of step on the ring .

Shay Tessler:

I think part of the problem with the reflections on the top of the rings is that your hdri image mapping is wrong. Please check that the "AngMap" option is enabled in blender's World buttons (F8). It is normal for the rings to reflect different parts of the scene, though.

rickyblender:

I see an environment, it looks like a mostly empty room. That environment is from the hdri paulo_gomes provided in his file, here it is called free_003.hdr.

Of course that render looks different from my original one because it uses a different hdri. :)

ok let me try to undertand it a little more

you need 2 pictures one is an HDRI engular map
plus another one as an environmental map ?

see name for pic ?
now do you need to upack the 2 files or only one ?

now one thing i saw was tht one of the pic HDRI at the bottom of the pic
there is a warning that this is a copyrighted pciture!
are there other soruce of HDRI pic that are free to use ?

and why did sha took 10 hours to render this pic ?
can Yafaray tell you how long it's going to take to render before you do it ?

Thanks

no you need one image . the hdr image

you will tell yafaray to use hdr image as envirement map when you unable "use IBL"
In the world tab of the yafaray export UI there is a "use IBL"

i dont know any other sources of hdr images , you can try google

10 hours cause in yafaray settings windows
if put all settings to the max :)

now to push the model a little more

i have added a a precious stone to give more objects around

i set the materials here as glass

but what is the difference betwee tramparency and translucency?

also how do you pass texture info to yafaray if there is any
like for velvet - i have a blender with 3 textures for velvet
but where do you tell yafaray to transfert it from blender?
or do you ahve to manually set it up again in yafaray?

see pic

Thanks

If it's a precious stone, remember that when using a glass material you have to change the IOR value. For a glass object the IoR is approximately 1.5, but for a diamond it's 2.419.
See it here for the IoR list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_refractive_indices.

Transparency is a fake setting to map alpha, it doesn't exist in reality.
Translucency is a setting to enable light scattering for thin materials (leafs, paper, plastic foil, etc).

Mapping of textures are converted between Blender and Yafaray, see here for more details: http://www.yafaray.org/documentation/userguide/textureinput
The thing to remember, though is Yafaray and Blender interpret the values differently, e.g. the Nor value.

Yes. There is a Power slider beneath the Use IBL button.
