Hi, you are doing great job:) I'm trying to compile Yafaray version (449) on my OpenSuse 11.1, blender 2.49b without success. On (431) everything works fine as previous versions. On (449), after pressing "Render Image" I've got that:

Bad blender version too, or what? Thx for reply.

I think this error comes from outdated python bindings. Make sure they are rebuilt fresh with swig and copied to your scripts directory.

IES please help

I have a project that has some ies files from max. I also created a ies file from ies_gen3. I have also tried a file downloaded from ge.

I uninstalled yafaray then installed windows build420.

I created a new scene with 2 spot lights and they render in yafaray fine.

If i choose ies for one of the spot lights, it does not render. If i specify a ies file (tried many) it does not render the light at all.

I have made a folder iesFiles and put the *.ies files in this folder. I have tried to put this folder in the following locations.
C:\Program Files\YafaRayDevBranch\iesFiles
C:\Documents and Settings\Taco\Application Data\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\yafaray\iesFiles

however its not doing anything just renders with out there being a light for that spot light.

Please help, I could really use this feature. Is it my ies files or am i doing something wrong?

do you get an error or just a black render? did you try changing the Spotlight power?

the other light renders. just nothing from the other one, i have turned up the power quite a bit on the ies and nothing. no visable errors and console didn't seem to have anything related to path or error.

This is unrelated but if i could use textured lights like blender supports i could fake it. or if i could use a decal texture like multi texture with a empty for pos. i will try this next. Ies would be best, but im at a loss why its not working.

Just tested decal imageing, this works. so i might be able to fake the ies reflections for now.

a render test with your 3 IES files (Windows XP, Yafaray 0.1.2 svn420).....
you need to add the path for the IES file from Browse button

omg thank you, see it was just something stupid obvious like that. I was going off the tutorials and other posts saying you have to have a iesfile path and just type in the name of the file. Didn't even see the browse button till you said something, its working wonderfully now. Thx this makes it so blender + yafaray can do as good as vray + 3dmax for interiors imo.

Ok guys thanks this is a scene we bought. had to redo the lights but they had ies files attached. its not perfect but this is so much better then paying 5k for 3ds and vray. thanks for the help. wanted to share a image with the new test build.

looks nice... if you can please upload your image in "Finished Project" or "Work in Progress" threads and share your render settings.. :)

Yet another particle test render (low res because I have sloooow laptop)
I know you guys can do better!
(This image use latest strandShape feature to render grass and a texture mapped to particles to mess up colors a bit..)

I installed the last version from the 1st post (win32 build).

Animated textures don´t work (i used a png-seq). Only 1st frame of png will be rendered :(

And: Abborting renderiing of an animation don´t work.

I think this is a Blender bug. Try loading a movie file first, then change it to the image sequence. It should work ok afterwards.
