Mac builds

Is there any chance we will get some Mac builds to test out? I'm not sure the schedule (if any) regarding the first release of yaf(a)ray.

thanks for the new build!

Are you familiar with Carrara's render engine? I think it uses a different method to rendering using photons, but it is way faster then yafaray. I mean I rendered an 800x400 pic with only one light source behind a wall and it only took about 10 minutes with the result having no noise and no artifacts.
The main factor that affected the final render were the photon map accuracy, and quality of light.

Some where in this thread is said that we need maintainers for the different OS version of yaf(a)ray.

Linx3D is not going to do that work, first of all because he does not have a macintel to compile & test with.

We need collaboration from the comunity for this and other 'not that difficult' tasks.

Somebody did compile other Yafray builds under PPC, so maby he/she could build Yaf(a)ray now as well ?

Hi,

I've updated the yafray script with more help text (in fact every button has now helpt text) and some default values have changed to give better results with default settings. The default values changed are:
Sun angle= 0.5
Light samples= 8
Photon bounces and path tracing bounces=5
FG samples= 16

The help text added is taken from here:
http://wiki.yafray.org/bin/view.pl/User ... Parameters

this is the link to the improved yafaray UI script:
http://uploader.polorix.net//files/774/yafaray_ui.zip

I've also worked on the default scene, now it is a scene that works in yafaray.

Well it's been a while...small update:

http://lynx.aspect-design.de/yafray/bf- ... yafa179.7z
http://lynx.aspect-design.de/yafray/yaf ... _setup.exe

blender is now svn trunk again, simply because the image browser has been merged back.

Script has been extended by a basic preview function, but i'm afraid Samo has to merge his changes again, i forgot he had posted updated defaults/help texts here.

Not really huge changes, mainly code cleanup and again preparation for new features, a few texture mapping tweaks, and the first try to support vertex color maps. Though the export code would need some serious work, then support for multiple UV maps would be easy too.

@doodle: Just replace https by http in the URL

@Lynx: What's the way to use the preview ? It seems that the file Files/YafaRay/yafaray-xml is missing, where can I find it and in whar directory should I place it ? Thanks.

Lynx,

I may be wrong, but it seems that sculpt mode does not work any more on the last version 179 :( . Could somebody check it to confirm it ?

Well for the preview just press "refresh preview" and it should render a small preview...
Complaints go to Bert Buchholz ;)
But i did try and it worked for me, and yafaray-xml.exe hopefully is included with the installer...

Don't ask me about broken blender features, i just compile the svn code as it is, except for the export.
