I'm not 100% happy with the result but I'm off for the weekend so have to submit it now :/

I've decided to go for a place where our ancestors might have hidden all their precious technology and now it's been found with all the precious byte flow.

My first render "Lost Bytes"

Post Sun Jun 29, 2008 4:18 pm

Hi, I tryed to send my work before, but a lot of complications and work don't left me send it.

Where go Lost Bytes when a hard disk crash happen?

Well, I think that Lost Bytes go to a far place, a place where lost socks go.

I explain more my idea with that:
Some times I listen to my mother say.- "I don't know what happend? If I put all the socks in the washing machine, why I have socks without pair?

Now I imagine a place where go Lost Bytes and of course Lost Socks, this place in the blue ether.

That are the reason of my work, thanks for the oportunity with this contest.
Excuse my bad english, but isn´t my first language.

Ok here is my final render without the specifications of the render

And here's my final version - it's a vision of a computer virus devouring a folder containing some documents. Data destroyed by it flow out and eventually take forms of ghostly butterflies...

very nice work !
I continue to think your project could be better without the 10001101001110 lines, but it's a matter of taste ;)

Thanks, umxprime, well - I've tested it once without those lines and didn't like it much. I wanted a dynamic scene, feeling like there's something happening. Those binary strings help to fill the empty areas around the centerpiece, and they provide counterweight for folders in background. Well, that's at least how's it intended to be. 8)

A matter of taste, as you say - on the same basis I'd say that I liked your rendering without the DoF more than with it. :)

Those "few hours" are getting quite long, if I might say so... Is it some way to build up the tension? :P  Also - will you require some proof if the scene was made by that person or another, and what kind of if any?

[EDIT]: I don't want to be accused for bumping my post count up, so I'll just add it here. my theory is that the jury were shocked to their deaths by our renders... :P That's why there are no results... ;)

[EDIT2]: It's a tie - or they just 'ate' all our prizes... ;)
