Hola. It is me proposing a 2nd. annual YafRay Contest. The contest topic is

The Lost Bytes
Where do the lost bytes go when your hard disk definitely crashes or when you format it? and when a file is erased? The render should depict a heaven for bytes where they can have a better life once they die in this world. One could also image a bytes hell or even the well known bytes bucket. Imagine, what happens to the evil bytes?

Some rules:
  • Only Yaf(a)ray can be used for rendering passes.
    More info about Yaf(a)ray
    Get yaf(a)ray here
    Yaf(A)ray User's Guide [i]
  • The contest will end the 1th of July 2008, 0:00 GMT.
  • You can, of course, post process and composite your render with photographs, etc, but using only Yaf(a)ray passes.
  • Post your final renders in this thread please.
  • Render minimun resolution must be 600 x 800 portrait or 800 x 600 landscape
  • Work in progress threads are not compulsory, but if you post a link to your WIP thread along your final render, you are eligible for this category prize. WIP threads can be in any forum you want (Cgtalk, Blenderartists, yafray.org, etc.)
The Winner will be selected by a jury composed of YafRay Team Members (moderators & developers) to avoid the issues we had the previous year. There are three different categories for awards. They can be acumulated by one entry.

# Best lighting.
Prize: Digital Lighting & Rendering 2nd. Edition book

# Best use of Yaf(a)ray Materials
Prize: Digital Texturing & Painting book

# Best Work in Progress thread:
Prize: Geeky Firefox e-shop tshirt

In books prizes you can choose alternatively an item from the Blender e-shop or a CG book with a similar price. Good luck with your entry. May the best win.

Should I post my WIP thread here or in a WIP section with a proper title? And am I allowed to show not exactly the heaven but the moment lost bytes leave broken hard disk?

Here post only a link to your WIP thread along your final render, that WIP thread can be anywhere you want (CGtalk, Blenderartists, yafray.org)

Your idea is fine.

Greets, just a quick question - are we limited to just one render or can we post as many as we like? And second - is it OK if I add for example a slight bloom to the render and make color correction in 2D, not 3D? No painting over, just contrast/brightness/temperature tuning. I'm so used to that way of working...

post as many renders as you want, but I recommend working on a single good entry. Post processing is allowed.

Okay, here's a link to my WiP thread:

Consider that the earlier posting of render here never took place. It will be posted when it's done... ;)
